Wednesday 28 July 2010: Open Doors
Each year millions of Christians are persecuted for their faith. Open Doors stands with them equipping them to ensure the Gospel light continues to shine in the world’s darkest nations.
Bicycles for Ethiopian Pastors
Open Doors provide a variety of services, and in Ethiopia they supply bicycles to pastors to ensure they can reach their outlying congregations to share the message of the Cross. These bicycles are provided at no cost to the recipient, all costs are covered by donations from supporters.
Training For Church Leaders and Believers
In restricted nations, Church leaders do not have access to leadership training. Open Doors trains over 40,000 church leaders each year to know the Bible better and to lead their congregations. In addition, over 100,000 believers receive training to understand the Bible and their faith better. All costs are covered by donations from Open Doors supporters.
Free to Believe Campaign
Open Doors are currently sponsoring a petition against the United Nations “Defamation of Religion” resolution, which was introduced by the ‘Organisation of Islamic Conference.’ If passed, this resolution will allow any government or majority religion to oppress any faith or individual, and will undermine the religious liberty and personal safety of Christians. The freedom we take for granted could be compromised if this resolution passes and the persecution of believers in already restricted nations could worsen.
