Tainui sets Treaty example

Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia says Tainui must be used as an example of why the nation should get behind Treaty settlements.

This week, the tribe's assets increased by 6.5 percent to nearly $530 million. Their 1995 treaty settlement gave them $170 million.

Mrs Turia says Tainui is now one of the country's largest employers and that refutes the myth that no one but iwi benefit from treaty settlements.
