Tuesday 27 July 2010: Mobile Mission Maintenance (MMM)

MMM is a building and maintenance organisation that specializes in helping Christian ministries around the world to reduce the damage of what can be huge financial costs.

In Figi a church fellowship in Lami have been worshipping in a simple lean-to structure for over 20 years. A New Zealand architect has helped with the drawing of new plans and MMM accepted the request for assistance. The church building project began in July 2009, with finances in short supply. The church is continuing with the construction as funds allow and are trusting God to meet their needs. Many of the teams traveling from New Zealand to work on this project are taking financial gifts as well as materials to help this evangelical church fulfill their God given commission.

In 2008 MMM was approached by the YWAM training centre in Oxford, situated in the beautifully scenic foothills of the Southern Alps. They needed assistance with building a new 420 square metre building to house their offices, classrooms, dining room and kitchen. This project would normally cost in the vicinity of $800,000, but the MMM team provided over 3,500 hours of labour, saving YWAM approximately $150,000.

Also in 2008, Graeme and Sharon Walls who had spent the past 25 years serving overseas on Mercy Ships, had returned to New Zealand to take a ‘home based’ mission position. The Walls purchased a home in March 2009 that required extensive maintenance before they moved in. The MMM team stepped up to the task, and painted the bedrooms, did minor repairs and stained the exterior of the house for them. Since then, MMM has been back several times to continue with the renovations. The Walls have been extremely encouraged by the assistance they have received, and their teenage kids have been able to have their own bedrooms for the first time.
