The Majors and the Minors Featured
The other day I was raging. I was raging against the media and society for focusing on the minor rather than what I consider the majors of this world. The Major's? For me this includes and is not exclusive to, the degradation of the environment and the devastation wrecked by terrorist groups like ISIS. Your majors may be different.
And then... I thought hang on I am in the media, and guess what I don't focus on the majors all the time either. I was trying to figure out why this is when I realised that sometimes it is just too hard to focus on these, sometimes they are too overwhelming and sometimes it's just easier to focus in on the minor. If I'm honest sometimes we just need to hear something other than bad news all the time, we need some of that good news stuff. Something to hold onto in the sea of negativity. Jesus is the good news right? He came to essentially save us from ourselves. Jesus said I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
However Jesus didn't ignore this broken world and I suspect when he places passions on our hearts he doesn't want these to be ignored either. So really I can't ignore injustice or the unlovely in life. So when it comes to the horrors of war and terrorism I am overwhelmed, I don't know what to do, but pray. I pray for the hearts of humans to turn from evil to good. As for the horrors we inflict on this earth, I'll try to be more responsible. In fact for this month I'll take part in Plastic Free July. Maybe you'd like to join with me too. http://www.plasticfreejuly.org/the-challenge.html Okay my rant is over - if you clicked on this page and took the time to read this - thank you :)
