The Vending Machine God

Many of us may find ourselves treating God like a vending machine, expecting our prayers to yield immediate blessings such as health and happiness. However, this mindset can lead to frustration when our desires go unmet. Berni Dymet reflects on the story of Charles Colson, who, after experiencing the emptiness of his success, surrendered to Christ and found true joy and purpose in serving others.

In Psalm 37:4, King David invites us to delight in the Lord, promising that He will reshape our desires. This isn't a guarantee of getting everything we want but rather an opportunity for God to transform our hearts. When we focus on delighting in God, we discover that our true desires align with Him, leading to a deeper fulfillment than we could have imagined.
