Chris Pratt PREACHES at Disney Land

He explained,

Heavenly peace: This is a blessing for which we deeply yearn. It moves us to welcome this season with renewed sense of kindness and compassion to others. We gather at celebrations. We create memories with families and friends. We go home. The coming of the holidays brings the promise of faith, of hope and of love. And as the Bible says, “The greatest of these is love. Love bares all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends” …

It’s been a very special and inspiring night. For me, being a parent has really changed my life in so many ways. And one of those ways is to understand, truly, the love that a father could have for a child …

The way we love our children, the more we love our children, the more we will understand the capacity for our Father in heaven to love us. Each and every one of us a precious creation, and He just marvels in the ways that we can try to please Him. That should give us a great deal of comfort. I know it does for me. (Watch at 51:04)

George HW Bush: Use power to Help people

All the notes for Monday 3rd December

YAY IT'S December!

Random Things We Talked About

When Bush accepted the presidential nomination in 1988, his address to the Republican National Convention included these comments: “I am guided by certain traditions. One is that there’s a God, and He is good and His love, while free, has a self-imposed cost: We must be good to one another."

“I ask you to bow your heads,” he said. “Heavenly Father, we bow our heads and thank You for Your love. Accept our thanks for the peace that yields this day and the shared faith that makes its continuance likely. Make us strong to do Your work, willing to heed and hear Your will, and write on our hearts these words: ‘Use power to help people.’ For we are given power not to advance our own purposes, nor to make a great show in the world, nor a name. There is but one just use of power, and it is to serve people. Help us remember, Lord. Amen.”

Your Verse of the Day

And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.—Genesis 2:9

We normally put up a Christmas tree during this first week of Dec, but did you know that the Christmas story actually begins with a different kind of tree?

God had given Adam and Eve only one restriction in that literal paradise: stay away from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But before long, that’s just where we find them. Of course, we know the rest of the story. They listened to the serpent and ate the forbidden fruit. And once that happened, they lost their sweet fellowship with God.

Jesus was born to us so that he could rebuild that relationship between us as God – this was the plan even before God created the planets!

The real message of Christmas is that God came to this earth. The real message of Christmas is Immanuel, God is with us.
