Is Kiwisaver Plan Noble but Flawed?
Saving before spending is great in principle, but it doesn't work for everyone.
The Salvation Army's Dr Bonnie Robinson told Andrew Urquhart that making Kiwisaver compulsory is a noble idea to ensure workers plan for their futures. However, the Social Policy Unit Director is concerned about the impact on low-wage earners, who may not be able to afford living essentials if 6% of their income is mandated into a retirement fund.
