Matariki: A Simple Harvest Festival of Thanksgiving to God
Thursday 25 June 2026
Thankfulness, remembrance, faith and hope.
How can Christians respond to harvest festival that appearts to be rooted in Maori mythology?
Dave Mann of the Hope Project says thanking God for His provision is a natural posture for the faithful of any culture. Recalling Biblical precedent, he encourages any celebration of Matariki should be kept to its most common cultural and seasonal effects, rather than allowing Critical Race Theory proponents with an anti-Christian agenda to elevate Matariki to a spiritual tradition.
